Job Profile: Waste Management Chemist

Biffa Waste Services is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Waste Management Chemist to join our team.

As a Waste Management Chemist, you will be responsible for identifying and preparing waste streams for safe onward transport, generating information to classify waste materials and preparing safety advice to ensure Health, Safety and Environmental compliance are met.

You will need to visit customer locations to assess and handle waste in an approved manner, provide technical assistance, waste packing and collection services to customers, maintain documentation and inspect wastes for conformity and container integrity prior to movement.

You will also be responsible for gathering and recording sufficient detail to remove waste on the day to a suitable facility, transferring details to company systems for acceptance onto site and processing, and creating load plans to aid drivers in segregating incompatible chemicals for transport.

The ideal candidate will have a HNC in Chemistry qualification (minimum), GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language, and a proven record of working to clearly defined KPI's.

Additionally, they will need to have knowledge & understanding of chemical hazards and relevant laws, be able to interpret a safety data sheet, and hold a full, clean UK valid driving licence.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, plus ongoing career development, training and coaching.
