Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker/Personal Assistant to join our team at Disability North. The successful candidate will provide support to a gentleman with a learning disability, who requires assistance with daily living tasks, personal care, and accessing the community.

Main Duties:

  • Support with personal care, including showering, bathing, and dressing
  • Assist with getting up and getting into bed
  • Support with continence issues and the use of a Convene Catheter
  • Support to maintain independence while parents have respite
  • Support with moving and handling, including the use of a ceiling track hoist
  • Support with medication and healthcare-related tasks
  • Support with daily living tasks and cannot be left unsupervised

Person Specification:

The successful applicant must have:

  • Experience of supporting people with a learning disability
  • Experience and understanding of epilepsy
  • Some understanding of moving and handling, with full training provided
  • A full UK driving licence, as access to a mobility vehicle is part of this role
  • Some understanding of supporting people with communication difficulties

Requirements:

An Enhanced DBS Check is required for this post, which will be met by Northumberland County Council. The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK.
