Downing is a leading developer, owner, and operator of luxury student accommodation, residential, and commercial property across the UK.

We are currently looking for a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team in Cambridge City Centre.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and be able to carry out maintenance tasks to a high standard.

We offer a competitive salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, plus benefits including 25 days holiday, paid overtime, pension scheme, life assurance cover, and employee assistance scheme.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking repair and maintenance tasks to a high-quality standard
  • Carrying out reactive maintenance jobs in a timely manner
  • Providing excellent customer service to students
  • Liaising with onsite contractors to ensure completion of work

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification in plumbing, joinery, or electrical systems (desired)
  • Prior experience of domestic electrical/plumbing/general maintenance
  • Intermediate level skills in business operating systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrable experience of effective communication both orally and in writing

Hours of work:

  • Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm or 9am to 6pm
  • Rota'd Saturday shifts
