Job Opportunity at GALSON Sciences Limited

You'll have the chance to develop a comprehensive understanding of the nuclear decommissioning, radioactive waste management, and disposal industry. You'll work in collaborative teams with experienced professionals and receive opportunities to grow into the role early in your career.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality technical projects or support on a timely and cost-effective basis, adhering to regulations and internal procedures.
  • Conduct research and produce written work on a wide range of industry, regulatory, and policy projects in the UK and overseas.
  • Present research findings to clients and/or workshops as necessary.
  • Manage projects in accordance with company standards and guidelines (training provided).
Requirements:
  • PhD or MSc in quantitative earth sciences, applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, or engineering, or a BSc with relevant experience.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work with excellent attention to detail within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, using English language.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Radioactive waste management planning, options assessment, disposal, nuclear safety, and related fields, potentially with experience at nuclear sites.
  • Modelling, particularly with respect to site characterization, groundwater flow, gas transfer, and/or contaminant transport in geological media (e.g. GoldSim, COMSOL).
  • Familiarity with criticality safety assessments; radiological risk assessment; and/or environmental safety case development.
  • Project and contract management experience.
  • Coding skills (e.g. Python, C++).
