Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Scientific Consultant to join our team at GALSON Sciences Limited. As a Scientific Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality research and technical projects in the nuclear decommissioning, radioactive waste management, and disposal industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support quality technical projects in a timely and cost-effective manner, in accordance with regulations and internal procedures.
  • Conduct research and deliver written work on a wide range of industry, regulatory, and policy projects in the UK and overseas.
  • Present research findings to clients and workshops as necessary.
  • Manage projects in accordance with company standards and guidelines.

Requirements

  • PhD or MSc in quantitative earth sciences, applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, or engineering, or a BSc with relevant experience.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work with excellent attention to detail within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills in English.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Radioactive waste management planning, options assessment, disposal, nuclear safety, and related fields, potentially with experience at nuclear sites.
  • Modelling, particularly with respect to site characterization, groundwater flow, gas transfer, and/or contaminant transport in geological media.
  • Familiarity with criticality safety assessments, radiological risk assessment, and/or environmental safety case development.
  • Project and contract management experience.
  • Coding skills, such as Python or C++.
