Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Occupational Health and Safety to lead our team in driving a safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This is a key leadership role that will require strategic planning, effective communication, and strong leadership skills.

About the Role:

This position is responsible for developing and implementing QHSE policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment. The successful candidate will conduct regular site audits, provide guidance to employees, and investigate incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Additionally, this role involves producing QHSE reports, chairing committee meetings, and coordinating training sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement QHSE policies and procedures
• Conduct regular site audits to identify potential hazards and non-conformances
• Provide leadership and guidance to employees on QHSE matters
• Investigate incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
• Produce accurate and timely QHSE reports
• Chair and drive QHSE Committee meetings
• Coordinate training sessions and ensure employee understanding of QHSE policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and update policies as necessary
• Conduct risk assessments and method statements to detect potential hazards
• Manage the Training Matrix and arrange mandatory training for staff
• Conduct QHSE inductions for new employees and subcontractors

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, technical membership of IOSH, and experience as a QHSE advisor/manager in the construction and utilities sector. They should have a sound knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001, as well as demonstrated ability to uphold certifications such as Constructionline, NICEIC, Achilles, and CHAS. Strong leadership skills and experience in driving QHSE performance across multi-disciplinary teams are essential.

Salary:
£60,000 - £80,000 per annum,
dependent on experience.
