St Margarets Nursery & Pre-school is a highly reputable nursery and is currently seeking a Senior / Pre-school Room Manager Early Years to join our amazing team.
About the Role:We are a 121-place nursery, full each day with a waiting list until 2025. This post is for our Craigmillar Park nursery – EH16 5NE.
Key Responsibilities:- Responsible for 63 children daily, across 3 rooms and up to 9 qualified staff members, 2 GTC registered Primary Teachers based full time within the playroom and 1 modern apprentice.
- Responsible for transitions for the children moving to Primary 1, ensuring all reports are completed and links with Primary schools are in place.
- Hold regular Curriculum nights with the parents and carers to ensure they know what the children are learning about and focusing on.
- Plan, observe, evaluate and reflect on learning experiences for the children.
- Ensure activities are age/stage appropriate and/or appropriate for the individual child.
- Ensure that children are actively engaged in activities indoors and outdoors.
- Ensure the health and safety, cleaning & outdoor checklists are carried out prior to the nursery opening and where applicable throughout the day.
- Positively communicate with parents/guardians to ensure we are up to date with the child's routine i.e. sleep patterns, mealtimes development etc.
- Ensure floor books, self-evaluation, playroom practice observations are up to date and reflects the children's voice.
- Work as part of a key worker system, ensuring you know your key children's individual needs, next steps and achievements.
- Create a safe and stimulating learning environment and provide a high standard of care for the children.
- Keep up to date with all Early Years documents, regulations, Child Acts, and new policies and procedures that are regularly changing.
- 33 days of annual leave pro rata. We do not deduct the Christmas closure from your entitlement, all staff gain an extra weeks annual leave.
- Over time is paid time & 1/2 of hourly rate.

- Children are picked up at 5:35pm, staff leave work at 6pm to get home to their own families on time.
