About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Higher Engineer to join our Manufacturing Metrology Group at the National Physical Laboratory in Huddersfield.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team that provides confidence in measurement to manufacturing companies across the UK.

We are looking for a metrologist to undertake a hands-on role and supplement our skills in non-contact metrology techniques, while also working with traditional CMM measurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering dimensional measurement to manufacturing and contribute to research projects on developing measurement methods.
  • Collaborate with external customers and internal research teams.
  • Develop measurement strategies and take measurements.
  • Process, interpret, and report on data.

We offer a hybrid working arrangement, with a mix of remote and office working. Our team strives to provide a great work-life balance, and this role involves using measurement equipment in our laboratories, with the majority of time spent on-site in Huddersfield.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline and experience in using non-contact metrology systems.

Key skills and experience include:

  • Experience in extracting features from point cloud data.
  • Proficiency in MCosmos, PCDMIS, or Calypso, with an understanding of CMM measurement.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An organised and systematic approach, with an emphasis on quality of delivery.

We would also welcome applications from candidates with experience in manufacturing quality, process engineering, or continuous improvement projects and a strong understanding of common manufacturing processes.
