Job Overview

The Division of Surgery – BHRUT NHS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to lead the fetal surveillance and risk assessment team. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for improving the standard of intrapartum risk assessment and effective fetal monitoring, in accordance with the Saving Babies' Lives Care Bundle.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading on the improvement of intrapartum risk assessment and effective fetal monitoring
  • Maintaining the Fresh Eyes and intrapartum Cardiotocography (CTG) review processes
  • Improving compliance with the Saving Babies' Lives Care Bundle
  • Working closely with other leads to ensure compliance and delivery against safety metrics
  • Developing a programme of education, training, and competency testing
  • Managing the Preterm-birth specialist midwife and overseeing the work required in relation to Element 5
  • Implementing, assessing, and monitoring the implementation and effectiveness of TEACH and TREAT

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration as a midwife
  • Leadership qualification or equivalent experience
  • Post-registration experience, including significant recent Labour Ward experience as Band 7
