Advance Automated Systems Ltd is a leading provider of industrial automation solutions. We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Lead to join our team.

Job Description:

The Control Systems Lead will be responsible for leading the design and development of controls systems for machines and conveyor systems. This includes creating technical documentation, such as software code, calculations, risk assessments, HMI design, and operation instructions. The role encompasses the full project lifecycle, from initial concept development through to commissioning and final delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of controls systems to specified brief.
  • Produce PLC software, HMI designs, and safety systems in accordance with company standards.
  • Produce technical documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Undertake peer reviews of colleagues' work (coding, calcs, documentation, etc.)
  • Ensure design compliance with project brief, relevant standards, and regulations.
  • Carry out analysis of systems with a view to debugging, improving safety and functionality.
  • Lead controls engineering activities to support successful delivery of projects.
  • Lead the commissioning of controls systems both in the factory and on customer sites.
  • Provide support to other areas of the business when controls knowledge is required.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior team members when required.
Salary and Benefits:

$85,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on experience. Additional benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent knowledge of PLC programming software (Siemens TIA portal preferred)
  • Good knowledge of industrial communication protocols (PROFINET, AS-i, IO-Link, etc.)
  • Good understanding of distributed control systems
  • Excellent understanding of software testing and emulation
  • Good knowledge of reading and interpreting wiring diagrams
  • Basic 2D CAD software knowledge (EPLAN preferred)
  • Excellent understanding of the design process and its associated documentation
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery design standards and regulations
  • Good understanding of electrical design principles
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design principles
  • Extensive experience working within an industrial automation environment
