Job Title: Food Service Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Food Service Assistant to join our team at Ben-Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund. As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality catering services to our residents and customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Head Chef/Head Chef/Chef in the delivery of a high standard of catering services to internal and external customers.
  • Prepare and cook appetizing, nutritionally balanced meals that meet the varied needs of customers, using appropriate quantities and ingredients, ensuring that food is ready for service at the correct time.
  • Ensure that all menu items and garnishes are prepared and ready for service.
  • Deliver food prepared within Ben premises, supporting food service to customers as required, and collect catering service equipment following meal service.
  • Prepare the dining room for food service and provide food and beverage service to customers.
  • Store food appropriately in fridges, freezers, and stores.
  • Participate in the implementation of quality assurance programs within catering services as required.
  • Comply with current Fire, Health & Safety at Work, Safe Food Handling, and Environmental Health legislation by observing Ben's policies and procedures and always carrying out safe procedures and practices, following appropriate reporting arrangements as required.
  • Maintain a clean working environment in the kitchen, cold room, and stores, cleaning down work areas and items of equipment used during the day in line with cleaning rota requirements.
  • Always operate catering equipment safely and in compliance with manufacturers' instructions.
  • Always work within the required Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and Ben's policies and procedures.
  • Follow current infection control guidelines to minimize risk to customers, visitors, colleagues, and Ben.
  • Comply with Ben's Safeguarding guidelines and reporting procedures protocols and requirements on maintaining confidentiality.
Working Hours and Location:

The successful candidate will work 16 hours per week over 2 days, from 10am to 6:30pm, at our Berwick-upon-Tweed location.

Salary:

The salary for this role is £11.44 per hour.
