Electrical Design Engineer Job Description

Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialized process and packaging equipment for various industries, including Coatings, Adhesive, Pharmaceutical, and Cosmetics. They are currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer or Electrical Design Draughtsperson to join their team in Essex and work with their team of Automation Technicians to produce electrical wiring diagrams for electrical control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with drawing transition from AutoCAD to EPLAN, working with the Automation Department to agree on methods of working and drawing standards.
  • Produce electrical drawings and panel layouts, with supporting electrical documentation (Bill of Materials, Component Lists, Cable Schedules, Terminal Rail Layouts, etc.).
  • Ensure all electrical drawings are updated promptly throughout the project lifecycle and shared with relevant departments.
  • Maintain a database of electrical devices to ensure consistency in functional hardware from project to project.
Requirements:
  • Qualified in Electrical Engineering (Degree, HNC/HND, Apprenticeship) with previous experience in a similar Design role, working on Electrical Engineering aspects of automated production machinery, special purpose machinery, or other capital equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of EPLAN P8 and/or Pro Panel 3D is ideal, however experience in other design software tools, plus awareness of EPLAN or Pro Panel will also be considered.
  • EPLAN Certified Engineer (ECE) qualification and previous experience of working in a project environment in cross-functional project teams is desirable.
