The University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking an experienced and accomplished Senior Lecturer in Fine Art to join our team. As a Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, scholarship, and academic administration on the BA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Arts.
The BA Fine Art course is a practical learning-through-doing events-based curriculum that hosts a large, international, and diverse student cohort. You will be a recognised authority in the contemporary art subject area, with a track record of professional practice within the art world at an international level.
Key Responsibilities- Teach both practice and writing across year groups as required in response to course developments.
- Develop professionally-purposed pedagogy and enhance the BA curriculum in innovative directions, drawing on your experience and networks to prepare students for ambitious graduate futures within culture sectors in the UK and globally.
- Contribute to the development of the BA Fine Art course, including curriculum design, teaching, and assessment.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and exhibition.
- Participate in academic administration, including committee work and departmental leadership.
- A recognised track record of innovative practice in the specific areas of art production that is located within digital and new technologies, art writing, exhibition/event production.
- An astute understanding of a broad range of international art practices, histories, contexts, and graduate destinations.
- A proven track record of teaching in the HE sector, with experience of working with substantial and culturally diverse cohorts.
- A dynamic and engaging approach to working with others that promotes inclusivity, initiative, and professionalism.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Confidence and enthusiasm for public speaking, with the ability to engage with a wide range of audiences.
