Health Physics Surveyor Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Health Physics Surveyor to join our team on a major project located near Newbury.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Health Physics Manager and RPA in maintaining radiological oversight and control of assigned buildings, ensuring adequate Health Physics services can be provided in normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.
  • Assist with decommissioning activities, including entries into areas with RPE, and perform Health Physics Surveys (radiation and contamination) and complete Health Physics Survey Reports.
  • Utilize air sampling equipment and ensure the functioning of Health Physics survey equipment.
  • Provide Health Physics coverage of operations as directed by Health Physics Supervisors and ensure Health Physics Clearance of items removed from controlled areas.
  • Maintain stock of Respiratory Protective Equipment/Personal Protection Equipment and perform contamination controlled area dresser barrier duties, including organizing laundry of clothing.
  • Instruct trainee surveyors and radiologically coach staff with whom they work.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements:
  • City and Guilds level 1 radiological protection qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years surveying experience, ideally with air-fed suit operations.
  • Proven knowledge of Radiological Protection, Decommissioning activities, and radioactive waste management.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
  • IOSH Managing Safely desirable.
