Job Summary

Senior Clinical Research Fellow in General Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Clinical Research Fellow to join our General Surgery department at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust. This is a replacement post, and the successful appointee will work alongside our experienced team to provide high-quality surgical services to our patients.

Main Duties of the Job

The post-holder will be expected to participate in the general surgical SPR rota, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. They will also be responsible for conducting research and developing their skills in clinical decision-making and risk management.

The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Undertaking PhD / MD

Eligibility

  • Full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Fitness to Practise

  • Applicant's knowledge is up to date and fit to practise safely

Language Skills

Essential

  • All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, which could be demonstrated by one of the following:
    • Applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English
    • Have the following scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Overall 7.5, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7
    • Have achieved at least grade B in the medicine version of the Occupational English Test, in each area, speaking, listening, reading & writing

Health

Essential

  • Meets professional health requirements (in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice)

Clinical skills

Essential

  • Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need
  • Practical skills: li>

  • MRCS or equivalent ATLS
