About the Role

The Food Sustainability Support Officer will work closely with the Food Project Manager to engage with and build capacity and resilience around grass roots groups, maintaining and expanding the existing network and helping improve access and affordability of good food across Newport.

About You

The right person for this role will have experience of working in partnership and in collaboration with a wide spectrum of organisations and groups, with a strong understanding of the importance of food sustainability and community development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and support networks and carry out surveys and consultations to improve access and affordability of good food.
  • Work closely with the Food Project Manager to develop and implement strategies to build capacity and resilience around grass roots groups.
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including community groups, local authorities, and other organisations to promote food sustainability and community development.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Working with or within the Third Sector.
  • Working flexibly in a team to deliver a service.
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures and working within a policy framework.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Well-developed ICT skills and competent in the use of digital office systems & social media platforms.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Managing a budget.
  • Ability to identify and signpost to available support services / opportunities.
