Quarry Section Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quarry Section Manager to join our team at Tarmac. As a key member of our Quarrying and Contract Crushing team, you will be responsible for managing quarrying and Contract Crushing operations on site, as well as working on the Railhead for the despatch of Quarried product.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a highly skilled team of colleagues and contractors to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, while maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports.
  • Understand different methods of winning and extracting raw material, as well as techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals.
  • Maintain and implement existing and new Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments, and training staff on the same.
  • Report and investigate any unsafe or hazardous working practices, and issue safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational team.
  • Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff, and keep an up-to-date training matrix.
  • Collate and report on monthly performance KPIs for your business unit, and drive operational performance through KPIs.

Requirements
  • Experience in Quarrying Operations, with Railhead knowledge beneficial.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH qualification advantageous.
  • Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology, or willingness to commence learning.
  • SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6, or willingness to commence learning.
  • Good knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies.
  • Strong IT skills, including high level of competence with SAP and Microsoft packages.
