About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Primary School Science Tutor to join our team at Bright Sparks Science. As a tutor, you will be responsible for delivering fun and engaging science club sessions to primary school students aged 5-11 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Safe Delivery of Science Sessions
    • To deliver high-quality science tuition, activities, and life-skill opportunities within a safe environment.
    • To ensure policies and procedures at clubs are adhered to by yourself and the children.
    • To complete registration and hand-over of children at either end of the session.
  • Comprehensive Care
    • To provide comprehensive care for the children including delivering them safely to parents or carers at the end of the session.
  • Communication
    • To facilitate good communication with all members of the Bright Sparks Science organisation.
  • Safeguarding
    • To share appropriate information with professionals and/or colleagues as may be required to keep everyone safe.

Requirements

  • A minimum of GCSEs and/or A-Levels (or equivalent) in the sciences.
  • Relevant experience working with 5-11 year olds.
  • A valid driving license and use of your own car for travel to and from clubs and Head Office.
  • A mobile phone for keeping in touch with the School's Coordinator or reporting absences to the school.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding children.

Benefits

  • An estimated salary of £24,000-£28,000 per annum based on 2 hours per club, depending on age and qualifications.
  • A mileage allowance payment for using your own vehicle for travel.
  • A pension scheme contribution of 3% employer and 5% employee.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.

Working Arrangements

You will be expected to work on a casual/zero hours contract basis, delivering science club sessions during term time. The minimum age requirement is 18 years old due to lone-working responsibilities while caring for children.
