About the Role

Bell & Clements is a leading specialist insurance company offering expertise in underwriting, broking, and capacity management provisions for Excess and Surplus (E&S) lines insurance solutions.

The unique combination of broking and underwriting divisions provides the ability to quote and bind risks through in-house binding authorities, while providing customers with access to Lloyd's, US, and international markets.

Bell & Clements has been part of the Munich Re Group since 2007 and is a registered Lloyd's broker.

As an Underwriting Assistant, you will report into our Senior Underwriter and support our team in the Managed Underwriting department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the performance of the portfolio and individual Agreements.
  • Triaging and assisting with the underwriting of new and renewal risks submitted for special acceptance under the Agreements.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of databases and documents relating to the underwriting process.
  • Supporting Underwriters throughout the annual planning process.
  • Assisting Underwriters with collating information, drafting findings, and recommendations, providing recommendations to the Coverholder, and following up recommendations to completion.
  • Regular production, distribution, and analysis of statistical reports.
  • Extraction and manipulation of data from B&C systems to assist Underwriters with review and analysis of the portfolio and individual Binding Authority Agreements.
  • Providing supplementary information to assist in the underwriting of Agreements and individual risks.
  • Diary management, preparation of meetings with both internal and external stakeholders.
