Job Overview

The Norwich Diocesan Board of Finance Limited is seeking an experienced Finance Officer to provide accounting support to the organization. The role will involve administering financial procedures, maintaining records, and providing financial information to senior managers.


Key Responsibilities
  • Administer the payment of clergy remuneration and pension contributions, including maintaining registers and related records.
  • Maintain records of clergy sickness absence and report on same.
  • Complete Gift Aid and GASDS claims for the Diocese, including related tax claims and records.
  • Monitor receipts of parochial fees, reconcile returns, and advise parishes on related queries.
  • Provide support to PCC Treasurers in managing parish accounts, review PCC accounts, and assist PCCs with year-end accounts preparation.
  • Record and bank all income received.
  • Maintain and develop school building financial reporting systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal, tax, accounting standards, and guidelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • AAT or equivalent accounting degree
  • 3-5 years of experience in a finance role, preferably within the education finance sector
  • Able to communicate financial information accurately with a range of different people
  • Proficiency in financial software and spreadsheet applications
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements
