Job Title: Test Engineer - Assistant Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Test Engineer - Assistant Team Leader to join Ultra Maritime's Test Department in Rugeley, Staffordshire.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Test electrical and electronic assemblies and equipment using standard operating procedures to MOD and commercial standards.
  • Issue and receive safety documents such as permits-to-work.
  • Adhere to HV Switching safety standards and requirements.
  • Liaise with the Engineering department to influence design for Test parameters.
  • Plan and schedule resources to optimize throughput.
  • Monitor actual cost and schedule performances versus targets.
  • Ensure productivity targets are met while maintaining quality standards.
  • Attend and lead regular project-specific meetings to inform stakeholders of relevant issues and progress.
  • Produce Test/Sensor department 'cost to complete' KPIs and monitor progress.
  • Demonstrate and adhere to Ultra Maritime's Integrity, Transparency & Alignment.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required by Management.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements and legislation.
  • Experience in a comparable role within a similar industry.
  • Proven ability to correctly interpret manufacturing information and carry out related self-inspection tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Knowledge of internal and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management.
  • Knowledge of 5S continuous improvement and 7W waste elimination processes.
  • Awareness of ESD.
  • PC literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Qualifications:
  • GCSE Grade C/4 Maths & English or equivalent.
  • HNC in Electrical and Electronic Technology or equivalent.
  • IPC 620 qualification or equivalent.
Preferred:
  • Apprentice trained.
  • Supervisory or Team Leader qualification (ILM/CMI/NVQ or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (such as IFS).
  • IPC 610 qualification or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
  • Driving license required.
  • Travel to alternative locations in the UK and abroad to undertake occasional off-site activities.
  • Working overtime and unsociable hours as and when required.

Important Note: The successful candidate must be able to obtain relevant security vetting clearance required for the role.
