About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Content Officer to join our team at the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST). As a key member of our Communications team, you will be responsible for creating and editing engaging content for our members, stakeholders, and the wider public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to promote IFST's work and mission.
  • Produce high-quality content for social media, our website, and other channels, including blog posts, articles, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with our Senior Communications Manager to coordinate our communications activities and ensure consistency across all channels.
  • Manage and maintain our social media presence, including creating and scheduling posts, responding to comments and messages, and analyzing engagement metrics.
  • Work closely with our team to develop and implement a content calendar, ensuring that our content is timely, relevant, and engaging.
  • Conduct research and analysis to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in food science and technology.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including members, partners, and media outlets.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in communications, content creation, and social media management.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt to different styles and formats.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of food science and technology, or a willingness to learn and develop expertise in this area.
