About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supported Accommodation Officer to join our team at St Petrocs. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are experiencing homelessness and helping them to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Developing Professional Relationships: You will develop a professional relationship with residents to help them achieve their goals, such as finding permanent accommodation, accessing training and employment opportunities, and improving their overall wellbeing.
  2. Support Planning and Personal Development: You will draw up a support plan for each resident and assist in their personal development and preparation for independent living.
  3. Practical Support and Guidance: You will encourage and assist residents on practical matters relating to their claim for benefits, their search for permanent accommodation, and resolving other problems that may be contributing to their homelessness.
  4. Liaising with External Agencies: You will liaise with external agencies on behalf of individual residents and inform and encourage residents to obtain help themselves from outside agencies and the statutory authorities in relation to any aspect of their welfare.
  5. Promoting Positive Health Attitudes: You will promote positive health attitudes among residents, such as ensuring registration with a local GP and accessing healthcare services.
  6. Promoting Services and Support Networks: You will promote the services and support networks provided by St Petrocs and other organisations.
  7. Resettlement and Housing Support: You will assist residents to 'move-on' by liaising and working with the Resettlement team and completing a resettlement plan.
  8. Facilitating Access to Accommodation: You will facilitate direct access to available accommodation by single homeless people in accordance with admission criteria.
  9. Day-to-Day Running of the House: You will carry out practical tasks relating to the day-to-day efficient running of the house, including minor general maintenance, obtaining household supplies, and arranging repairs and replacements.
  10. Financial and Administrative Tasks: You will ensure that residents are clear about arrangements for paying accommodation charges and ensure they are paid on a timely basis.
  11. Maintaining a Welcoming Atmosphere: You will facilitate and create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the house and encourage the participation and involvement of each resident.
  12. Health and Safety Compliance: You will ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations, in accordance with our policies and procedures.
  13. On-Call Service: You will provide an on-call service for emergencies across all services during normal working hours (approximately 1 week in every 8).
  14. Monitoring and Administration: You will monitor the rate of referrals to the house and take action to deal with void/vacant bed spaces, and maintain efficient administration systems, including the daily diary, confidential personal files, and accident/incident reports.
  15. Financial Management: You will work within an agreed budget and maintain records in accordance with our policies and procedures, including the payment of weekly charges, records, petty cash systems, and ensuring all income is accurately recorded and handled in a secure manner.
  16. Representing St Petrocs: You will work in other areas of the service as required, and attend events as a positive ambassador for St Petrocs, promoting and raising awareness of its services and inspiring existing and potential supporters.
