Network Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to join our team at Pure Resourcing Solutions. As a Network Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our college's networking infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Network Design and Implementation: Design and implement network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, VPNs, and storage solutions.
  • IT Support: Provide general IT support to students, staff, and guests, including assistance with Microsoft Server, Linux, and desktop operating systems.
  • Cyber Security: Ensure cyber security standards are met, including security patching, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Disaster Recovery: Lead disaster recovery, backup planning, and business continuity testing.
  • IT Performance Monitoring: Monitor IT performance and proactively manage capacity issues.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the IT Manager on strategic projects and oversee operational IT projects.
  • Purchasing: Make informed purchasing recommendations in line with college policies.
  • Helpdesk Support: Support IT helpdesk services, assisting the IT & AV Engineer in providing user support.
  • Documentation: Document support requests, maintain the knowledgebase, and ensure clear communication with users.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in out-of-hours support as part of an on-call rota.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry best practices, data protection, and information security standards.
  • Technical Input: Provide technical input to the development of IT systems standards and strategies.
  • Collaboration with Central University IT Services: Collaborate with central university IT services and support intercollegiate tasks.
Experience Required:
  • Networking: Experience with HP Aruba switches, FortiGate firewalls, VLANs, and cloud services (Azure, Office 365).
  • Technical Expertise: Strong technical expertise with IT systems, including Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Linux, and virtualisation technologies.
  • 2nd Line IT Support: Previous experience in delivering 2nd line IT support.
  • Helpdesk Efficiency: Proactive in addressing issues and managing helpdesk requests efficiently.
