About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Protection Specialist to join our proactive Environmental Protection Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in protecting public health and the environment by assessing and improving air quality, identifying and remediating contaminated land, reducing noise, and regulating industrial premises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Council implements and meets its statutory duties related to environmental protection.
  • Assess and improve air quality, identify and remediate contaminated land, reduce noise, and regulate industrial premises.
  • Liaise closely with the Planning Team and other internal departments, as well as outside agencies such as the Environment Agency and UKHSA.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to protect public health and the environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Sciences, Air Quality, Acoustics, or a related environmental subject.
  • Experience working in environmental protection, either in the public sector or a commercial setting.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing specialist environmental reports and effectively communicating findings to relevant parties.
  • Awareness of the importance of multi-disciplinary working and an integrated team approach.
  • Ability to cope positively with change and promote positive change to make a difference.
  • Full driving license.
