Job Title: Band 7 Paediatric Practice Development Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Paediatric ED nurse to lead the practice development aspect of the paediatric ED team of nurses and healthcare support workers, empowering them to provide outstanding care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead allocated staff to promote and maintain high-quality and safe care.
  • Attend essential training sessions to retain clinical skills.
  • Ensure effective communication in the interests of patient care.
  • Work within Trust/Unit policies to maintain professional, clinical, and patient safety.
  • Undertake advanced practical skills following successful completion of recognized training.
  • Communicate care information and manage queries from patients, relatives/carers, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Assess care needs, develop and implement care programs, and evaluate these with junior staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise to act appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of hand hygiene and environmental cleaning practices.
  • Implement and monitor infection control principles with supervision.
Requirements:
  • RSCN qualification.
  • Post-nursing qualification in a related nursing specialty.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Teaching and development skills.
  • Ability to use initiative, work independently, and manage risk effectively.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
  • Understanding of nursing and AHP student assessment principles.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection, Equalities Act, and Safeguarding.
  • Skills in Root Cause Analysis.
Experience:
  • Significant experience in leadership, preferably in paediatric ED/specialty.
  • Flexible approach to work.
Salary and Contract:

£49,178 to £55,492 a year, inclusive of HCAs (Pro-rata if LTFT). Permanent contract.
