Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Professional to join our team in South Lanarkshire. As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing financial advice and support to various departments within the council.

About the Role

This permanent position is responsible for delivering finance provision in accordance with the Council's statutory responsibilities, policies, and procedures. You will work closely with the Finance Adviser to ensure effective financial management and contribute to providing quality advice and support to departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forecasting and budget setting for the coming year
  • Monitoring performance against budgets and preparing financial returns
  • Preparing committee reports and ensuring general financial stewardship of the council's resources

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have experience working in a financial environment, ideally in the public sector. You must demonstrate technical job knowledge and expertise, as well as the ability to comply with professional codes of practice.

What We Offer

As an employee of South Lanarkshire Council, you will receive a competitive salary, ranging from £39,350 to £49,040 per annum, depending on experience. You will also enjoy a range of benefits, including up to 33 days annual leave, public holiday entitlement, occupational sick pay, and family-friendly policies.
