About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced human resources professional to join our Human Resources department. Reporting to the Group Operations Director & People Services Business Partner, you will be an integral member of our team, playing a key role in supporting our staff based at our Head Office in Manchester & nationally across the UK.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for people, exceptional communication skills, and a strong understanding of people-centric best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations: Act as a first point of contact for employees and managers on Services related inquiries, providing advice and guidance on People Services policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide expert advice & guidance to colleagues on People Services policies, procedures, & employment legislation.
  • Take ownership of the recruitment process, including job advertising, candidate screening, conducting interviews, and delegating where necessary.
  • Manage & take ownership of the employee life cycle including onboarding & offboarding processes.
  • Manage employee relations issues, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and performance management. Conduct investigations into employee complaints and allegations, gathering relevant information and making recommendations for appropriate resolution.
  • Conduct regular People Services audits to ensure compliance with company policies & legal requirements.
  • Assist with development & implementation of People Services initiatives, such as Learning & Development programs, employee engagement activities, and diversity initiatives.
  • Provide support and guidance to managers on probationary periods, performance expectations, and onboarding procedures.
  • Performance Management: Assist in the implementation of performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.
  • Provide advice and support to managers on performance management issues, including coaching, feedback, and disciplinary actions. Maintain accurate records of performance-related discussions, actions, and outcomes.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues, grievances, and conflicts in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Stay up to date with People Services trends & developments, proactively identifying areas for improvement & innovation.
  • Actively engage with managers and leaders to support the development of an inclusive working environment that is conducive to safe practices and colleague welfare.
Requirements
  • Proven experience working in a HR assistant/advisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law & HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels of the Group.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion & professionalism.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail & the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong IT skills - MS Office suite & IT systems.
  • Full UK driving license preferred.
  • At all times follow safe system of work procedures set by the company.
  • At all times ensure structured processes relating to health & safety at work are followed.
  • At all times ensure that correct lines of reporting are followed in relation to safety at work.
