Laboratory Team Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Team Leader to oversee our Microbiological Food Testing at our UKAS approved site in Carlisle. The successful candidate will lead a team of laboratory professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a focus on ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in food products.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology and food safety, with experience in managing laboratory teams and implementing efficient shift patterns to maximize productivity and maintain high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate a team of laboratory technicians to conduct accurate and timely microbiological testing on food products.
- Develop and implement efficient shift patterns to maximize productivity and maintain high-quality results.
- Monitor testing processes and results, taking corrective actions when necessary to maintain the integrity of the data.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in microbiological testing and food safety standards to maintain a state-of-the-art laboratory environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a team leader or supervisor in a laboratory setting, with a preference for those with experience in a food manufacturing/lab environment.
- A degree in microbiology, food science, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety, microbiological testing methods, and UKAS accreditation standards.
- Experience working in a rotating shift pattern and the flexibility to adapt to changing work schedules.
