Pay Rate: £18 per hour
Job Purpose:
As a Manual Machinist at GPW Recruitment, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual turning and milling machines to produce high-quality components from a variety of materials, including stainless steel, mild steel, plastic, and brass. You will work according to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and the company's Quality Assurance Procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacture components to meet customer requirements and engineering drawings.
- Ensure all parts are made to the correct tolerances by using appropriate measuring equipment as per the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Interpret customer drawings to produce accurate components.
- Select the correct tooling for setup and manufacturing.
- Conduct first-off and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Perform job changeovers, ensuring machines are cleaned down and 5S standards are followed.
- Troubleshoot and identify quality issues, providing solutions to resolve them.
- Log job times and details through the Company's MRP system for accurate tracking of project costs and timelines.
- Perform other tasks as required by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Time-served miller/turner with strong engineering knowledge, particularly in the manufacture of shafts/keyways.
- Experience with CNC machines is preferred.
- Ability to break down work and produce one-off parts accurately.
- Proactive, driven, and able to think on your feet.
