SEN Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs in both one-to-one and group settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with SEN in a variety of settings, including classrooms and one-to-one sessions.
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning and preparation tailored to students' individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing in the classroom.
  • Help students with personal care tasks where necessary.
  • Monitor and report student progress to the teacher and SENCO.
  • Promote inclusion and help students engage in all aspects of school life.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs.
  • A calm and patient approach to working with children with additional needs.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to assist in all areas of student development.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education, care, or support roles are desirable.
  • Flexibility to work on a temporary basis, starting ASAP.
