About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our specialist school in Leyland, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a full-time, long-term, and temp to perm role, starting after the October half-term. The successful candidate will work closely with primary and secondary-aged students, providing one-on-one and small group support to help them manage challenging behaviours and achieve their educational goals.

The ideal candidate will have a resilient and proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff, are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and during activities.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and assist with individual learning plans.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, helping them navigate challenges and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Work closely with the teaching team to create a nurturing, structured environment for all students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support, encouraging academic progress and social development.
  • Adapt and tailor support to meet the individual needs of each student.
Requirements
  • Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
