As an AES Subject Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our education strategy, broader scholarship, and aims for an outstanding student experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic coordination for designated modules in the role of Subject Lead.
- Lead/participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff to manage programmes and the student life cycle.
- Line manage a group of academic tutors.
- Contribute to the design, delivery, and development of modules offered by the centre.
- Deliver and assess Academic English provision.
- Prepare module examinations and other assessment forms, mark, and provide feedback to students.
- Support planning activities, such as timetabling and field trips.
- Update and maintain the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and the AES online platform.
- Work with the centre's Student Experience and academic team to deliver induction, orientation, and registration programmes.
- Liaise with the Progression, Welfare, and Support team to support students in achieving their progression aim.
- Represent the department at external events, such as enhancement and engagement activities with partner universities.
- Engage in scholarly activity to ensure the delivery of modules is current.
- Implement quality assurance procedures at module level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of the programme to achieve high standards.
- Fully utilise centre systems to log and monitor student attendance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student engagement.
- Complete sponsor reports and academic reports for students.
- Take up opportunities, such as VLE development and peer observation activities.
- Undertake teaching, learning, and assessment observations and associated staff development plans to assure standards within the subject area.
- Any other duties as required from time to time by the Head of AES and Centre Director.
- Promote health, safety, and wellbeing of students and colleagues, holding personal accountability to avoid action that could threaten the health or safety of you, other employees, students, or members of the public.
