Witney, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Abbott Full time

At Abbott, we're a global healthcare leader dedicated to helping people live more fully at all stages of life. Our diverse portfolio of life-changing technologies spans the spectrum of healthcare, with leading businesses and products in diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals, and branded generic medicines.

We believe that new ideas come from different places and points of view. To achieve our ambitions, we're actively shaping our organization for the future by prioritizing diversity and inclusion, advancing STEM education and internships, and empowering our teams with skills to meet the health needs of tomorrow.

Our Operations group is the largest team in the Witney facility, producing high volumes of test strips and biosensors each year to stringent quality standards demanded by European and US authorities and our internal quality systems.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team in the role of Capacity and Performance Optimization Specialist.

This role is pivotal in linking the planning team with the wider business, specifically looking at capacity optimization. The role interfaces with Operations, Engineering, R&D, Testing, and Technical.

In this role, you will be responsible for impact assessments and scenario planning relating to site and production capacity. The role is responsible for longer-term planning in relation to space and storage requirements, and for near-term capacity of our production areas.

The key responsibilities in this role are:

  • Owning production capacity within the 1-18 month horizon, updating assumptions on a monthly basis through the Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) process.
  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to ensure that non-production requests for line time are captured, managed, and prioritized effectively. Managing the non-production request process.
  • Translating live operational issues into capacity impact assessments, and creating scenario plans which aid business decision making.
  • Proposing recovery plans which limit impact to site output and/or the customer, as and when required.

The main attributes required are:

  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills: Advanced Excel skills, and Power BI experience preferable.
  • Self-motivated, able to plan and prioritize your time to effectively manage multiple strands of work.
  • Ability to tailor communications to multiple audiences, and effectively use data to tell a story, informing others of critical information points and supporting decision making.
  • Demonstrate a cross-functional working style which is important to support your understanding of the needs of stakeholders, and also when partnering with them in prioritizing competing requirements.

To be successful, you will ideally be degree qualified, but the key requirement is a breadth of experience in material planning processes within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Familiarity of S&OP is preferred, with preference given to those who have worked with Class A principals and/or in a regulated environment.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, beekeeping, yoga, and more.
