About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Dame's Assistant at Eton College. As a key member of our house staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the Dame with the pastoral care of students, ensuring their health, safety, and wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop positive relationships with students and support their transition to life at Eton College.
  • Supervise laundry, Messing Teas, and other household tasks, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
  • Assist the Dame with general health and wellbeing of students, liaising with medical staff as needed.
  • Escort students to appointments and provide support during medical emergencies.
  • Liaise with parents on medical, domestic, or logistic matters in the absence of the Dame.
  • Support the Dame and House Master at functions and events.
  • Undertake administration tasks as directed by the Dame, liaising with central school teams as necessary.
  • Ensure child protection procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Cover for the Dame during time off and provide medication to students as required.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in allocated rooms and areas of the house.

Requirements

  • Flexible approach to work and a 'can do' attitude.
  • High standard of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to nurture good working relationships with other departments.
  • Ability to work using your own initiative and take direction from the Dame and House Master.
  • Confidence in dealing with challenging situations.
  • Previous experience of handling administration and good computer skills.
  • Understanding of when to resolve problems independently and when to ask for help.
  • Flexibility to work within a dual reporting line structure.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working in a pastoral role for children or young adults.
  • Awareness of the Children's Act and Safeguarding and Child Protection.
  • First Aid or relevant medical training.
  • Clean and valid driving license.
