Credit Risk Role Overview

Crown Agents Bank is seeking a skilled Credit Risk Specialist to assist the Head of Credit Risk in maintaining an effective end-to-end Credit Risk Management function. The successful candidate will be responsible for credit analysis and approval of the Bank's counterparties in line with the policies and procedures within the Bank's risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ownership and understanding of the risk profiles of the Bank's counterparties, including banks, NBFIs, Central Banks, DFIs, IDOs, and NGOs.
  • Preparation of credit applications with a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative credit risk assessment for new and existing clients and ensuring timely completion of annual credit reviews.
  • Attendance at Credit Committee and ensuring that questions raised are adequately and timely addressed, and that meeting minutes correctly reflect committee discussions and decisions.
  • Assigning internal credit ratings using the Bank's rating system (Moody's RiskCalc) in line with the Credit Policy and Procedures.
  • Maintenance of credit limits and monitoring excesses, escalating any breaches as appropriate.
  • Participation in ad hoc projects to improve credit processes and controls, and portfolio reviews as required from time to time.
  • Maintenance of good working relationships with relevant stakeholders and participation in client meetings/calls/visits and transaction/client-related discussions as required.
  • Providing back-up for colleagues in the team to ensure goals and objectives are met and assisting with any other duties as assigned by the Head of Credit Risk.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in a commercial/numerical subject and/or relevant professional qualification.

Experience

  • Experience in writing credit proposals and analysing transactions within the credit risk department of a Financial Institution.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of credit policies, procedures, and standards as well as practical knowledge of lending and derivative products, ideally in an emerging/frontier market context.
  • Good understanding of the IFRS9 impairment process. Financial modelling skills would be desirable.

Skills

  • Strong technical credit analysis and research skills (including financial statements analysis, sector research, peer analysis).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail. Ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a simple and meaningful way to a wide and varied audience.
  • Professional level in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan-ahead to ensure tasks are prioritised and completed within agreed timelines.
