About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled financial leader to join our team as the Head of Financial Improvement. This is a key role within our Financial Strategy and Planning function, and the successful candidate will be responsible for driving financial improvement across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of financial improvement programmes and projects, working closely with senior managers and directors to drive change and improve financial performance.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and guidance to the organisation, ensuring that financial decisions are informed by a deep understanding of the business and its goals.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Trust's Executive and Board Committees, to ensure that financial improvement initiatives are aligned with the organisation's overall strategy.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of financial governance and control processes, ensuring that the organisation is compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Lead the development and delivery of training and development programmes for financial staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to support the organisation's financial improvement agenda.

Requirements

  • Professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, ICAEW, CIMA or Certified) and current registration with a professional body.
  • Extensive post-qualifying experience covering the full range of responsibilities of a senior financial professional, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience of advising and working in tandem with senior managers and directors of a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience of financial staff development within a large NHS body or equivalent organisation.
  • Experience of developing training and development policies and practices, working jointly with other organisations to create a consistent approach.
