Volunteer Care Companion

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you have a caring and empathetic nature? We are seeking a Volunteer Care Companion to join our team at Countydurhamvolunteering.
About the Role:The Marie Curie Companion Service provides one-to-one companionship and support to individuals and families affected by terminal illness. As a Companion Volunteer, you will work closely with clients to provide emotional support, practical assistance, and respite care.
Responsibilities:- Provide regular visits to clients in their homes, care homes, or in the community.
- Offer a listening ear, engage in everyday conversations, and help with small daily tasks.
- Spend quality time with clients, whether it's watching TV, going for a walk, or simply being present.
- Allow primary caregivers to take short breaks, giving them time to rest and recharge.
- A friendly and sensitive nature, with excellent listening skills.
- Patience, empathy, self-awareness, and emotional stability.
- Commitment and reliability - able to keep appointments and volunteer for 3 hours (approx.) a week.
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
- Willingness to be flexible to the needs of the individual.
- Fully trained and supported by our experienced team.

- Flexible volunteering schedule to suit your availability.
We estimate that this role is equivalent to approximately £8-10 per hour, based on the estimated 3 hours per week commitment.
