Electrical Design Engineer

This role is designed to interpret the customer's technical enquiry and to design the most cost-effective overall solution for an HVDC installation utilising the PES power electronics solutions, aiming to minimising the total cost, and to specify the main (high-value) items of bought-out equipment.
The successful candidate will be involved in the development and industrialisation of solutions tools and processes.
The successful candidate will have proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering.
Job Description
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Modelling and performing the studies; deliver study reports.
- Technical responsibility in areas of expertise.
- Provide guidance to peers on areas of expertise.
- Customer-facing responsibilities.
- Processes: develop and industrialise solution tools and processes associated with the engineering activities identified above. Design Guides.
- Development: Be actively involved in new developments in HVDC technologies, implementing control and protection solutions and creating/delivering new analysis techniques and system study tools in order to provide optimized system study solutions.
- External activities: Represent the business in external events by publishing technical papers or participating in working groups (CIGRE/IEC/IEEE).
- Adherence to company policies and Code of Conduct.

- Electromagnetic Fields.
- Substation Electromagnetic Zoning.
- EMC compliance and risk assessment of the substation.
- Earthing and bonding.
- Transient Overvoltage.
- Transient Recovery Voltage.
- Lightning.
- Other EMT studies.
- Power Systems Engineering degree, MSc and above.
- Demonstrated experience in industrial engineering roles.
- PSSE.
- DIgSILENT Power Factory.
- MATLAB.
- PSCAD.
- FORTRAN.
- PYTHON.
- EXCEL.
- Able to work to deadlines with high quality, sense of urgency and delivery.
