Southport, Sefton, United Kingdom Primarycare24 Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Primary Care 24 (PC24) as a Senior Clinical Coder & Administrator on a 6-month fixed term contract.

About the Role

As a PC24 Senior Clinical Coder & Administrator, you will be required to summarise and read code relevant information from patient's clinical records, hospital correspondence and other sources into EMIS Web, working strictly in accordance with the practice protocols. This could include complex conditions and treatments, ensuring you offer patients an accurate and consistent clinical coding service using a variety of different systems.

  1. Assist in the continuing development and improvement of the clinical coding and administrative team in order that high quality data can be collected and produced with minimum delay.
  2. Work together with the management and clinical team to ensure they understand the coding process.
  3. Plan and prioritise own workload to meet performance and quality targets and, in a timely manner, advise the line manager of any hindrance to the achievement of these targets.
  4. Liaise with medical professionals, patients, and external partners, acting as a point of contact for complex queries and complaints.
  5. Coding adherence to Enhanced Services (ES), Quality Outcome Framework (QOF) and Local Quality Contracts (LQC).
  6. Conduct audits and quality checks to maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records.
  7. Identify and correct discrepancies in coding to ensure consistent and high-quality data collection for improved patient care and reporting.
  8. Process all correspondence received, in both digital and paper formats in an accurate, efficient manner including scanning onto the correct record and appropriately coded.
  9. Maintain the referrals database ensuring that any rejected referrals are actioned immediately.
