Assistant Transport Planner Job Description

Calibre Search is seeking an experienced Assistant Transport Planner to join their team in Wilmslow. As an Assistant Transport Planner, you will be responsible for working on development planning schemes, including travel plans and transport statements, for a variety of private sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing multi-modal access strategies and designs for development and public sector transport projects.
  • Conducting site visits, corridor and area walking and cycling assessments, and participating in public consultation.
  • Preparing technical notes and reports, including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Delivery and Service Plans.
  • Undertaking capacity or technical analysis using tools such as PICADY, ARCADY, LINSIG, and VISSIM.
  • Interrogating designs through swept path analysis and applying design standards.
  • Supporting the transport elements of complex planning applications from initial concept to detailed design and access strategies.
Requirements:
  • A graduate or master's degree in a relevant field, with some work experience in transport planning.
  • 1-3 years of experience in development planning or development control work, preferably with knowledge of the planning system and transport-related matters.
  • Some design experience of transport, including basic design principles, standards, and guidance.
  • Some understanding of highway capacity, preferably with experience using PICADY, ARCADY, etc.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD and other associated Autodesk design software, such as AutoTrack.
  • Good writing and numeracy skills, with the ability to work within deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate with the wider team.
