Job Title: Senior Content Developer - Scripted Projects

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a creative producer to work with our print and digital titles in the development and production of scripted projects. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual who can identify, develop, and present the most exciting materials from our archives and contemporary journalism to our partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pitch ideas to our partners based upon intellectual property developed from News UK's journalism.
  • Moving ideas from pitch through to commissioning and into production.
  • Mining the archive to identify the most relevant material for development.
  • Working with the editorial teams across The Times, The Sunday Times, and The Sun to find contemporary stories which lend themselves to scripted development.
  • Developing a deep understanding of our partners' creative priorities by working with creative and commissioning teams.
  • Crafting stories you identify into pitches for our partners and News UK executive teams.
  • Collaborating with the partner team to develop your ideas by providing feedback on creative treatments, potential writing talent, and other core creative processes.
  • Assisting in the ultimate production of those ideas.

Requirements:
  • Creative vision - the ability to identify potential in stories and bring them to life in the pitch process.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in scripted content development with a significant tenure within either a TV broadcast, cable network, studio, or established independent production company.
  • A working knowledge of global trends in the industry as well as a keen understanding of storytelling and casting as it applies to the creation of winning, successful programming.
  • The ability to function in a complex, fast-paced, and demanding environment, an entrepreneurial drive, and passion for the business, the content, and the audience.
  • The ability to think creatively and encourage this type of thinking among team members; an imaginative, innovative mindset with strong combination of creative sensibility and keen business acumen.
  • An excellent writer with strong communication skills and the ability to present his/her views in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment as well as diverse constituencies and both creative and business personality types.
