Wind Turbine Technician Job Description

Are you passionate about renewable energy and making a difference in the fight against climate change? We're seeking a skilled Wind Turbine Technician to join our team at EDF Renewables UK.

About the Role

As a Wind Turbine Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our wind farms. Your primary responsibility will be to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services on our onshore wind turbine projects. This will involve troubleshooting, fault-finding, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assemblies and major components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily maintenance activities and report any issues to the team.
  • Coordinate local spare part and consumable stock to ensure efficient maintenance operations.
  • Conduct fault-finding and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues with turbine systems.
  • Perform proactive repair or component replacement to prevent complete failure or system downtime.
  • Supervise specialist and subcontractor activity during main component exchange.
  • Provide safety induction to contractors and visitors.
  • Respond to turbine breakdowns on a rotational basis (1 week in 4).
  • Ensure the highest level of turbine availability.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need to be a time-served engineer with a primary focus on ensuring operations and maintenance activities are undertaken to the highest levels. You'll ideally hold an AT/AE qualification under Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) and have significant technical expertise gained through a blend of academic (Electrical or Mechanical HNC/HND/NVQ) and 'hands-on' operational environments.

You must be able to drive and live within a 30-mile/45-minute radius of our Fenlands Service Centre in Peterborough.
