Role Overview


We are seeking a Data Governance Specialist to join our team at TransUnion LLC. This role is responsible for ensuring that data protection best practices are followed, and data governance is maintained throughout the organization.



Job Summary

This is a hybrid position that involves regular remote work as well as in-person collaboration with colleagues in one of our office locations. As a Data Governance Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our data assets and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).



Responsibilities

  • Ensure new and existing products/services comply with regulations, particularly the GDPR;
  • Support the preparation of risk assessments related to data use, including Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs);
  • Report on risks, issues, and performance to the Senior Data Privacy Manager;
  • Maintain the data asset catalogue;
  • Help ensure that data usage adheres to the Data Governance Framework, relevant policies, standards, and controls;
  • Serve as a point of escalation for data governance, data management, data quality, and data use issues, working closely with stakeholders to improve the value of data assets while maintaining compliance with regulations.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations, particularly the GDPR;
  • Financial industry experience;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • The ability to articulate business issues without resorting to technical language;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Knowledge and experience of information lifecycle management.
