Job Title: General Catering Assistant

Firwood High School, a successful 11-19 special school, is seeking a General Catering Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving school meals, as well as carrying out general kitchen duties in accordance with food handling and preparation regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook school meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines and food safety regulations.
  • Assist with general kitchen duties, including cleaning, maintenance, and inventory management.
  • Work under the supervision of the Unit Catering Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Develop and maintain a safe and healthy working environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and school holidays.
