Job Title: General Catering Assistant

Firwood High School, a successful 11-19 special school, is seeking a General Catering Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving school meals, as well as carrying out general kitchen duties in accordance with food handling and preparation regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook school meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines and food safety regulations.
  • Carry out general kitchen duties, including cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Work under the supervision of the Unit Catering Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Assist with food preparation and presentation to ensure high-quality meals are served to students.

Requirements:

  • Experience of general kitchen duties would be an advantage, but not necessary for someone willing to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a high level of professionalism in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with students, staff, and external partners.
