Countryside Portfolio Leader

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Countryside Portfolio Leader to join our team at The National Trust. As a key member of our portfolio leadership team, you will play a strategic role in the future of our countryside operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead your countryside team and work closely with the Property Operations Manager to set and deliver plans to protect and enhance the conservation of our properties. You will be responsible for planning and the operational day-to-day delivery for land, outdoors, and nature on our properties. You will work alongside key staff from other properties and professional advisors across the region to help shape and deliver our exciting nature conservation strategy to 2025 and beyond. You will work with a wide variety of external collaborators in delivering your work and enable a broad range of visitors to have outstanding and inspirational experiences through the quality of our welcome and the effectiveness of our conservation work. You will be able to multi-task and juggle lots of competing priorities and delegate effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the countryside team and work closely with the Property Operations Manager to set and deliver plans to protect and enhance the conservation of our properties.
Plan and deliver the operational day-to-day delivery for land, outdoors, and nature on our properties.
Work alongside key staff from other properties and professional advisors across the region to help shape and deliver our exciting nature conservation strategy to 2025 and beyond.
Work with a wide variety of external collaborators in delivering your work.
Enable a broad range of visitors to have outstanding and inspirational experiences through the quality of our welcome and the effectiveness of our conservation work.
Multi-task and juggle lots of competing priorities and delegate effectively.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of nature conservation, common land, and public land management/land use change. You should have project and budget management skills, the ability to lead a diverse team, and the ability to demonstrate where you've delivered change and results. You should also have effective negotiating, influencing, and communication skills, strong partnership working, and the ability to demonstrate resilience. Outstanding service, engagement, and people skills are also essential. You should have a desire to make a difference, show initiative, and work towards a sustainable future.
Strong understanding of nature conservation, common land, and public land management/land use change.
