Job Overview

The successful candidate will work independently in the Acute Geriatric Ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, reviewing acutely unwell frail older patients and common problems they present with, such as falls, confusion, decreased mobility, and weight loss. They will perform a comprehensive geriatric assessment and develop ambulatory management plans in collaboration with other community services.

Main Duties

The registrar will be responsible for:

  • Conducting daily ward rounds of inpatients, mainly Elderly Care, with junior teams and Consultant supervision.
  • Independent reviews of frail older patients in MUDAS, preventing admissions and working as part of a multidisciplinary team for older people.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • UK GMC Registration with License to Practice.
  • Full MRCP.
  • ALS Certificate in date.
  • Ability to demonstrate broad clinical skills in the management of all patients.
  • 24 months general professional training experience at SHO level in general and acute medicine.
  • Experience working at IMT3 or ST3 level.
