We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Curator of Small Order Collections to join our team at the Natural History Museum. As a key member of our Insects division, you will be responsible for developing expertise in collections-based science, with a focus on taxonomy, systematics, and wider entomology.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Oversee the collections of various small orders, including Archaeognatha, Collembola, Diplura, Mecoptera, Neuroptera, Phthiraptera, Protura, Psocoptera, Raphidioptera, Thysanoptera, Zoraptera, and Zygentoma.
- Acquire, curate, and make specimens available for research, teaching, and exhibitions.
- Conduct and support collections-based research.
About You
We are looking for a candidate with a relevant degree, such as an MSc or PhD, or equivalent experience, and a keen interest in natural history. You should have relevant taxonomic knowledge and experience in the use and care of natural history collections.
**Essential Skills:**
- Thorough understanding of collections management, care, and development.
- Expertise in one or more of the listed taxa, encompassing their identification, systematics, and taxonomy.
- Proficiency in databasing for collections management.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
