The role of a Behaviour and Pupil Support Worker is to assist the development of a school-wide approach to behaviour in a specialist setting for pupils with additional needs.

Company Overview

Tradewind Recruitment is working closely with a Secondary Alternative Provision school in Preston, which provides full-time education for up to 125 SEMH pupils who are not able to access mainstream education.

The school follows an inclusive philosophy, ensuring that all pupils are given opportunities, skills, knowledge, and qualifications to reintegrate into mainstream education or on to specialist provision, further education, employment, or training.

Job Description

As a Behaviour and Pupil Support Worker, you will work closely with the Pupil Support Manager to deliver and develop strategies to improve behaviour among SEMH pupils.

You will be responsible for assisting in the development of a positive relationship between pupils and staff, promoting a culture of respect and understanding within the school community.

In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of behaviour management systems, providing support to teachers and other school staff as needed.

Your primary goal will be to help SEMH pupils overcome challenging behaviour, enabling them to achieve their academic and personal potential.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive daily rate of pay, with estimated annual salary range of £22,000 - £28,000 based on a 5-day working week.

Ongoing professional development and training opportunities through the National College are available, including over 2500 certified CPD courses.

Additionally, you will have access to a dedicated and experienced consultant who will support your career progression.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of working with challenging behaviour;
  • Hold Level 2 Numeracy and Level 2 Literacy or GCSE equivalent;
  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure or hold a DBS currently subscribed to DBS Update Service;
  • Ensure your CV covers all employment and education since leaving secondary school;
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK;
  • Desirably, hold a relevant Level 3 qualification and experience following safeguarding procedures in an educational setting.
